It is the only school that I was actually able to excel with because they give you one-on-one time and really work with you.

Student

I used the Booth Bucks at the school store to get baby wipes, clothes, food, whatever I needed. I really liked that.

FAQs

IntroductionWhat is itTestimonialsFAQsEnroll Now

Cardinal Academy and the Booth Program work together to create an empowering environment for you to flourish now and well into the future.

100-years of helping pregnant & parenting teens figure it out.

Can anybody go here? How does admission work?

Students may enroll at any time during the school year, though it sometimes makes sense to wait until quarter or semester. Every situation is different and we can help you come up with a plan that works for you. If the school is full, Cardinal Academy will hold a student lottery on May 1 of each year.

Do you have to pay to go to Cardinal Academy?

No. Cardinal Academy is a free, public charter school.

If I get pregnant, do I have to go to a special school?

No! There are lots of reasons you may choose to come to Cardinal Academy, but no one can make you. At Cardinal Academy, you’ll have small classes with caring teachers, medical appointments and counseling right on campus, plus the childcare just downstairs. You can even shop at the school store and get two free, delicious meals every day.

However, Title IX protects pregnant and parenting students by ensuring your school must allow you to continue participating in classes and extracurricular activities and provide you with reasonable adjustments due to pregnancy (like a larger desk, elevator access, or more restroom trips).

Read more about Title IX and the rights of pregnant and parenting students here.

If I want to go back to my regular school, can I?

Absolutely. Cardinal Academy supports you in making whatever decision is best for you. If you decide to go back to your regular high school, we can help you get transferred. Sometimes you’ll have to wait until a new semester, but we can work with you to figure out a good plan.

I am 19 and dropped out in 9th grade. Can I still get a diploma?

Maybe! Students can attend Cardinal Academy until the end of the semester when they turn 21. We will help you get as many credits as possible. If you aren’t able to finish, we’ll connect you with a GED program. Plus, you can still work with The Salvation Army and take advantage of all the great services available on campus.

What do people do after high school at a school like Cardinal Academy?

Some decide to go right to work. Others decide to sign up for a short-term job training program to help them get skills and make more money. Some students decide to go to college, though not all of them want to go right after high school. At Cardinal Academy, our Academic and Career counselor will help you figure out a plan you are proud of.

I'm not a teen, can I still enroll?

Yes, the Booth Program is open to young parents who need assistance ages 14-24.

I'm a teen dad, can I go here?

Yes! Cardinal Academy supports pregnant and parenting teens and young adults, both moms and dads.
